These writings and recordings are from the authors experiences, imagination and Mup Ta My (genetic memory) of his journey, and his ideals, views and interpretations do not reflect nor represent the Chumash people as a whole and our varied ways of life and beliefs. Some of these are my interpretations of my greater grandmother’s stories. I’m just having fun; nobody knows the truth but the Sky People.
This is for the author’s love and joy of storytelling, and one of his ways of leaving a legacy.
I hope to convey a message to the Chumash youth, to learn and practice encouragement, vigilance, integrity, sincerity in your life to break the life cycles and movements that you have to deal with. You’re not alone in your struggles. All of us have to struggle to be strong!
I also hope to honor my love for our beautiful and creative, resourceful, igneous predecessors and my fascination and envy for their craftsmanship, and of ritual paraphernalia, as well as their ceremonial dance regalia.
